I'm jealous! Ed Garten and his wife are invited to a shindig at the Rail Haven Best Western in Springfield, Mo on August 10 to celebrate among other things the use of a photo of his grandfather's 1950s Drive-In located in Hinton West Virginia as a mural in a number of Best Western motels. I have added two photos for your viewing pleasure: a photo of the motel he is going to as it appeared in the 1950s -- note the Chevy and Buick; also one of the oldest surviving operating Drive-Ins, this one in nearby Carthage, Mo in Route 66.
Now for sure I have an itch for a road trip of my own.
John, the Rail Haven sign still looks the same as it does in the photo. Close by on Glenstone there is a Steak & Shake that has monthly cruise ins but not sure which days this year. A few of us have talked about taking our cars to the 66 Drive in sometime in the early fall. I think it will be a great evening if we do. Terry
