This blog will expand on themes and topics first mentioned in my book, "The Automobile and American Life." I hope to comment on recent developments in the automobile industry, reviews of my readings on the history of the automobile, drafts of my new work, contributions from friends, descriptions of the museums and car shows I attend and anything else relevant. SCCA Racing, Andrews Air Force Base, 1953
Jeremy Kinney has written of the important role that Air Forces bases played in the transition from sports car road racing to track events during the first half of the 1950s. This amateur film gives us the flavor of the times -- MGs, Jaguars, a smattering of other models, and the "star power" of Dave Garroway to promote the hobby. The film gives us the appearance of safety and speed, and that the two are quite compatible. Additionally, it seems that despite its origins during the 1930s, one need not be well-healed to participate!
I feel so glad after reading this post it's all information is really helpful for all users.
