Directed by Robert Altman and starring Elliot Gould, the film was based on Raymond Cahndler’s 1953 novel. It is an important film, as it was preserved I the Library of Congress in 2021 for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”The car reflects a certain segment of society at the heart of the movie -- selfish and self-obsessed, where friendship and loyalty are meaningless. Character Eileen Wade owns this R 107, and she had hired detective Phillip Marlow in the first place.
