A Darwinian Business -- Personnel Changes at Mercedes-Benz

The Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG has decided on several new appointments within the top management of Mercedes-Benz to strengthen the consistent execution of the company’s strategy. At the same time, highly respected colleagues – Gorden Wagener (Chief Design Officer), Torsten Eder (Head of Electrified Powertrain Systems) and Thomas Hellmuth (Head of Body & Safety) – are entering a new chapter in their lives or continuing their careers along new paths.

Personnel Changes in Mercedes-Benz Top Management

Effective 1 February 2026, Bastian Baudy, currently Head of Design AMG, will succeed Gorden Wagener as Head of Design. Gorden Wagener will leave the company on 31 January 2026 at his own request.

Effective 1 January 2026, Yanni von Roy-Jiangcurrently Head of Operations Supply Chain, will assume responsibility for Procurement and Supplier Quality, succeeding Gunnar Güthenke. Until February 2026, Gunnar Güthenke and Yanni von Roy-Jiang will jointly ensure an orderly transition of the function Procurement and Supplier Quality. The company will provide further information on Gunnar Güthenke’s future role in due course. Effective 1 April 2026, Stefanie Choritz, currently Head of Finance & Controlling Top-End Vehicles & Mercedes-AMG GmbH, will succeed Yanni von Roy-Jiang as Head of Operations Supply Chain.

Torsten Eder, Head of Electrified Drive Systems, will leave the company at his own request effective 1 May 2026. He will be succeeded by Jörg Bartels, currently President & CEO of Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. (BBAC). Jens Bühler, currently Head of Production Kecskemét and Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary, will succeed Jörg Bartels as President & CEO of BBAC.

Effective 1 January 2026, Rosa Maria Conde Diez, currently Head of Corporate Research, Sustainability & RD Functions, will assume responsibility for Body & Safety. She succeeds Thomas Hellmuth, who will leave the company at his own request at the end of December. Ida Wolf, currently Head of Chief of Staff & Corporate Office, will succeed Rosa Maria Conde Diez as Head of Corporate Research, Sustainability & RD Functions effective 1 February 2026.

As part of the upcoming personnel changes, some department names will be modified.
