Some Unusual and Quite Artistic Citroen Advertising from 1960

Only the French can not only design one of the most beautiful and unique automobiles, but depict then in the most artistic of ways. The DS-21 is a car that might as well have come from outer space. In an industry that was rarely innovative technologically and design-wise from the 1930s to 1960s, here are two examples taken from product brochures. While the French were slow to embrace Fordism, their style of automobile was always interesting and distinctive. Perhaps the French industry best illustrates national styles, one aspect current cars tend to downplay, perhaps because of assembly plant capacity economics.
