Well, that didn't happen. Going well north of Columbus when I changed lanes at mile marker 134 and hit a huge truck tire shard in the 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon. The shard went under the car, and soon thereafter the car lost power and I pulled off I-71. That is when the fun really began. Did not see any obvious damage. Waited for ever for a highway patrolman (he ended up being great), and a tow truck (almost impossible to get in a timely manner). Car towed back to Columbus Area off of Polaris Parkway. The incident happened at about 3:30, didn't get to the Tuffy in north Columbus until almost 6 p.m., and our daughter, driving from Oberlin, OH, picked us at 6:45 p.m. After a quick Steak & Steak dinner we got to the Holiday Inn Cleveland Clinic at 9:50 p.m.
Damaged radiator and fractured turbo intercooler.
So today I am having the car towed to Tremaine's Volvo at Dayton his afternoon, thanks to Haggerty Insurance High Octane plan. Definitely worth the money!
What a problem the day before heart ablation!! Lisa was exhausted driving back and forth last night.
We slept until 9 a.m. Great, except now I can't eat or drink anything until after the Cat Scan at 12:45 p.m. today.
Moral of the story -- you never know when things will change on you in a second.
So sorry to hear about the highway drama, but glad all are safe. Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks, Choke. Things went better today. I report tomorrow at 10 a.m., procedure should start about noon. I stay in the hospital overnight, then hopefully check out and go home in an Enterprise rental car. I was told no vigorous exercise for 3 weeks! So it looks like I'll hang around the 5 seasons pool and get a championship tan.
