I believe the attached photograph is from 1939, when Boyle Racing Headquarters owned the winning Maserati race car driven by Wilbur Shaw who was the second person to win the Indianapolis 500 three times, and the first to win twice in a row. His car number was 2. There are two cars numbered 2, so apparently one was a backup car. Car number 4 was probably for a team mate. The 2 car on the ground is sleeker. None of this will help identify the truck.

ReplyDeleteWe recovered the truck from its resting place in a ravine on an Indiana farm where it sat for 63 years. Wilbur Shaw gave it to a friend Forest Detro in 1952 because Forest needed the tires. Forest pushed it in the ravine at his farm. 63 years later (2015) we have pulled the truck from the ravine and it is being rebuilt for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 and to support thevrebuilding of the Boyle Racing Headquarters building in Indianapolis.
