This article appeared in today's Dayton Daily News: "Wife gets final ride in treasured hot rod."
"The love of hot rods, and especially their Chevy Belair Nomad, was something that Springfield's Paul and Susan Packer shared during their nearly 50-year marriage.
So Paul Packer and his family thought it only fitting that they use the hot rod to transport Susan Packer to her final resting place at the Vernon Ashbury Cemetery after her funeral Friday at Richards, Raff and Dunbar memorial Home in Springfield. Susan Lyane Packer, 65, died at Spring field Regional Medical Center.
The hot rood was purchased in White Sands, N.M. in 1972 while Paul Packer was stationed in the Army. When he left the Army, he drove the family and car home to Springfield.
This blog will expand on themes and topics first mentioned in my book, "The Automobile and American Life." I hope to comment on recent developments in the automobile industry, reviews of my readings on the history of the automobile, drafts of my new work, contributions from friends, descriptions of the museums and car shows I attend and anything else relevant.
