50 years since the song "Vehicle" was released by The Ides of March

The story behind this song is fascinating. The writer of this song (James M. Peterik) was motivated to win back his girl friend. She had liked his car, and he liked the girl. The former took advantage of the latter by getting rides. In the end, the song worked!  When the song was cut 12 seconds were lost on the 2nd take. The disconsolate band went out for pastrami sandwiches on Rush street in Chicago. When they got back the engineer had somehow pasted together the lost 12 seconds and so the entire guitar solo was recovered.
