Hi folks -- just working up paper topics for this term's seminar. here are some tentative titles -- a few original, while some are not.
Tom Crowley -- Public Response to the Speed Trap, 1950s and 1960s.
Michael Roche -- Hitch-Hiking, Popular Culture, and the Lost of Trust in Post-WWII America
Conor Squier -- Fast Food Restaurants before McDonalds and Highway Location
Eric DiPerna -- The Lemans Accident of 1955 and the Public Critiques of Auto Racing
Paula Braley -- Hot Rods and Girls in Pop Culture during the 1950s
Leah Presutti -- Public Protests Against the Urban Interstate during the 1960s
Tara Heiner -- Henry Ford, his Anti Semitism, Charles Lindbergh, and the Coming of WWII.
This blog will expand on themes and topics first mentioned in my book, "The Automobile and American Life." I hope to comment on recent developments in the automobile industry, reviews of my readings on the history of the automobile, drafts of my new work, contributions from friends, descriptions of the museums and car shows I attend and anything else relevant.
