Driver Education History -- Training Women Drivers, 1932

Driver's Training at Women's 4-H Camp, Jackson's Mill, W. Va.
1932

This is a very interesting photograph illustrating the education of young women drivers during the early 1930s. The date is significant, for it would be another 4-5 years before the AAA would get involved in a nationwide campaign to train young drivers in the high schools, The event is also illustrative of the fact that driver education "bubbled up" from the bottom rather than orchestrated by "Motordom" (to use the words of Peter Norton).

Thanks to Ed for finding this photo!
